Summer is great for a lot of things.  Family vacations and cook-outs are a couple of them.  Guns - not so much.  The gun shows stop in early June and don't resume until the fall, its too hot to dress head to toe in camo and sit in a tree stand or duck blind, and there is not much to shoot at, legally, besides steel and paper if you could tolerate the heat.  Fortunately, our friends at Innovative Arms are busy making new products and have been, well, innovative.  If you have seen me at any of the shows in the state, I always have one of Innovative's integrally suppressed Ruger 10-22 take downs with me on my table.  If you have stopped to talk to me, I will promptly tell you how great it is, how quiet it is, and how it is my favorite gun to shoot.  However, this fall, there may be competition.

Innovative Arms has produced an integrally suppressed Sig MPX 9mm.  This is an absolute beauty and will be hard to beat!  See it in action below with a variety of 9mm ammo.  It is stupid quiet for a 9mm.  In case you are wondering, that noise you hear is the action of the rifle.  There is no boom, no bang, just the action.

We are working closely with Innovative to be sure to be able to bring these to you once they are available.  We don't have prices yet, but we will shortly.  In the meantime, if you'd like to get on our list to be one of the first to get one, send us an email and we'll get you inline.

The ATF eforms site is still not up and running.  We are hearing that possibly by the end of the year they will be back up and running.  We'll keep our fingers crossed.  However, while the eforms system was great, and quick for its time, the paper forms are now running typically under 4 months when using a Gun Trust.

Don't have a Gun Trust?  Contact Us and we can help.  We use only South Carolina licensed attorneys to help our customers.  Using a properly drafted NFA trust is critical when dealing with the NFA.  Penalties for illegal possession of an NFA item are severe.  Do it right the first time, rather than trying to defend it on the back side.

(January 5, 2015)

Happy New Year to all.  2015 promises to be very exciting for those of us following ATF 41P and the eforms.  No, eforms are not back up, yet.  Reportedly, the ATF is going to debut the new e-file system at Shot show this month.  This is only rumor, but we should see shortly. Only 15 days to go!  The expectation is that we will get a glimpse of the new improved system in a couple of weeks with the hope that it will be operational by the second quarter.

As to  ATF 41P, the ATF is still responding to comments.  Overall, over 9,500 comments were submitted and the ATF must respond to each and every one in writing.  For those of you who may not remember, last year, the Obama Administration issued an executive order that would require a Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) signoff for all NFA transfers to private citizens, including those to a trust or other legal entity like a corporation.  For many folks, that would make it impossible to own a silencer (or any NFA items) because some CLEOs will not sign off on the application.  Needless to say, many constitutional issues were raised in response.

Given the number of comments submitted, the current projected time for a ruling is May 2015.  For the time being, we can and are still filing Form 4 applications using an NFA trust.  For more information on NFA trusts and the benefits of them, we have a short write up on them here.

In the meantime, we'll keep our ears open and post when we know something more.  If you have any questions shoot us an email.

shotgun_silencer

A silencer for a 12 gauge shot gun!  Finally, at long last, they do exist.  You have probably seen the movie No Country for Old Men wherein Anton Chigurh uses a Remington Model 11-87 short barrel shotgun with a suppressor on it in several scenes.  One of which is depicted at the right.  At the time of the movie, this was almost pure Hollywood.  Commercially produced sound suppressors did not exist, you could not buy one, they were supposedly impossible, impractical, unbuildable, etc... until yesterday.

What happened yesterday?  SilencerCo unveiled their newest creation - the Salvo 12.  The Salvo 12 has a modular design that gives flexibility in weight, length, and sound reduction.  It is a very effective engineering masterpiece.  Best of all, unlike any other commercial suppressor in the world, you can shoot shot shells through the Salvo 12.   It is truly the world's first commercially available shotgun suppressor.

You can see it action below.

Pre-ordering starts tomorrow and these are going to be HOT!  These retail at $1,400 and will be difficult to get.  If you are interested in one of these, if you need one of these or if you just gotta have one, for whatever reason, email us for your best deal.

Check it out in action here.

Thinking about buying a silencer?  Then you must see this!  MythBusters compares the blast of a pistol without a silencer to that of one with a silencer (both 9mm and 45 caliber pistols).

Silencers Are Legal

Silencers are legalDid you know that in most states, owning a silencer (suppressor) is perfectly legal?  Hollywood may have portrayed these as tools of an assassin; however, they are far from that and extremely beneficial to the average shooter.  Once you've shot with one, you'll wonder how you got along without it.   Click the brochure on the left to learn moreDownload the PDF on the left.

What We Do

Carolina Silencer focuses on helping normal people obtain silencers for their own personal use.  You do not have to be military or law enforcement to own a silencer.  Essentially, if you can legally buy a handgun, you can buy and own a silencer.   The process is simple and we will stay with you until it is complete and you have your silencer in hand.   Waiting for the ATF to approve the form 4 is the hardest part. When the ATF does respond, we will call you and let you know your new toy is ready.  Still not sure where to start?  Send us an email
