The ATF has changed its agenda on Rule 41P. Final action is reportedly not expected until June 2014. While this is not necessarily a surpise, especially considering the speed of government, it is at least a welcome delay to the proposed rule. For those that may not be following closely, Rule 41P's aim was, of course, safety, but the reality was that it was going to make it more difficult and in some cases impossible to buy NFA weapons, and with absolutely no support that the proposed rule will have any effect on their stated goal of safety. The number of crimes committed each year with an NFA weapon is virtually non-existent.

It is unclear what the ATF's final decision and/or implementation of the Rule will be, but it appears that it will be several months before they o anything, whatever it is they do. Of course, with enough political pressure, this deadline could be greatly expedited, or alternatively, greatly extended.
